Beyond the Hanger
The world is spinning fast and so is fashion.
Globally Every second, a garbage truck full of clothes ends up in landfill.
In 2024, global textile waste hit 120 million metric tons, most of it burned or buried. Here in Australia, we’re part of the problem, on average buying 56 new garments a year making us one of the biggest retail consumers in the world.
But maybe it’s time to slow down.
We’ve grown up scrolling, some of us up to five hours a day (hey we have all been guilty of high screen time at some point) of new trends, micro moments, and “must-have” outfits. One day it’s a bow, the next it’s cargo. And somewhere between the hashtags and hauls, we’ve been sold the idea that we need more to be enough.
At Joanie, we believe in pressing pause. In loving our clothes a little longer.
In choosing pieces that feel like you - timeless, slow, and meant to stay.
Paving the way forward means shifting from fast to forever.
It’s supporting the local makers, the dreamers sewing stories into every seam.
It’s asking, who made this? and what world did it come from?
It’s building a wardrobe that feels like home, one that treads lightly and lasts.
So here’s to you the girls choosing slower mornings, smaller wardrobes, and softer impacts. You are the movement. You are the way forward and together we can be the future shaping a better world for future generations.
